John M. "Jack" Dowling

John M. "Jack" Dowling, 84, passed away April 11, 2005 at his residence. Born in Savannah, GA, he resided in Los Angeles, CA, most of his life. Upon graduating from the University of Akron in 1951, Jack continued his studies at U.C.L.A. He retired from the Los Angeles Public School System, where he worked as both a teacher and guidance counselor from 1963 to 1982. A Navy veteran of WWII, Jack served in the South Pacific on the USS LST 625.

Preceded in death by wife of 47 years, Florence Erickson, bro, Arthur Dowling, and sister-in-law, Louise Dowling, he will be sadly missed by wife, Levona; daughters, Karen Dowling (Allen Martin), Kathy (Tim) Simpson, Sara (Rick) Stoffel; grandson, Eric Stoffel; special niece, Ellen De Young; nephews, Cal and Pat Dowling; niece, Siobhan Moran; extended family, Tanya Erickson Maggos and Edward Erickson Jr; golden retriever, Molly.
