Emerson (Red) Murphy

Emerson (Red) Murphy 89, passed away January 11, 2009. He was born in Clinton, Indiana on February 20, 1919, and lived most of his life in Portage Lakes. Mr Murphy attended Coventry H. S. where he was an outstanding football and basketball player. He retired from the Burger Iron Company. Red belonged to the Portage Lakes Masonic Lodge and enjoyed volunteering many hours at Craftsman Park.

Preceded in death by wife, Marie; parents James and Doris; sisters Wilma (Lloyd) Pine, Mary Murphy and Etta Mae (Joe) Sabados; brothers infant James and Benjamin (Doris); one niece and two nephews.

Survivors include daughter, Linda Mottice; grandsons, Donald (Melani) and William; great grandchildren Jordyn and Quinten; nephews and nieces Donald (Reenie) Pine, Terry (Darlene) Pine, Georgia (Jack) Sparks, and Joyce (Ken) Post; and special buddy, Missy.

Per his wishes there will be no calling hours. Cremation has already taken place. Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Greater Akron, 4904 Quick Road Akron Ohio 44264.
