Gertrude M. Smith

Gertrude M. (Brooker) Smith, 91, passed away November 2, 2007. Born in Jenningston, WV, she lived her entire life in Akron where she worked at the downtown YMCA. She was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church and also of the Firestone Park PrimeTimers.

Preceded in death by her first husband, Edward Brooker and brother, Robert Simmons, she is survived by her husband, Stan Smith; sons, Robert (Susan) Brooker and Thomas (Judith) Brooker; 6 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandson.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 6, 2007, at 1 p.m., at the Eckard Baldwin Sanctuary Chapel, 760 E. Market St. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home for TWO HOURS prior to the service, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rockynol Life Fund or to Hospice of Summit County.
