Loving Memory
Jacqueline
Rae Whetstone

Jacqueline Rae Whetstone, 85, passed away October 16, 2008.
Born in Akron, Ohio, and a graduate of East High School, Jackie
bravely moved to Columbus at the tender age of 22 where she
worked her way through her beloved Ohio State University.
You would have to look long and hard to find a more proud Ohio
State Alumnus. She was a loyal and avid Buckeye fan. Nearly
all activities took back seat to an OSU football game. Jackie was employed
as a superintendent at the Scioto Village Correctional Institution.
Her second passion was golf. She was former president of the Brookledge
Golf League, member of the Mogodore West Golf League and the Reservoir
Park Seniors. Jackie was an excellent golfer, earning the title, "League
Champion", on countless occasions and was well on her way to another
title this year when she was taken ill.
Jackie was a member of the Church of the Master and Rachael Circle. Along
with being active in her church, she was always willing
to volunteer her time for any good cause. Simply reading her
weekly itinerary would wear out a person half her age.
Jackie was loved by all that knew her. She was blessed with a
wonderful sense of humor. When Jackie entered a room you
knew that smiles and laughter were soon to follow.
She will be sorely missed by her loving family, and the endless
list of friends she made over the years.
While the world may seem a sadder place to us today, we can
rest assured in the knowledge that joyful memories of this
wonderful lady will soon replace our sorrow.
She is survived by sister, Mary Jane Christie; nephews Bill Christie,
Charles (Jacqueline) Christie, and Kit (Trish) Christie: niece, Linda
(Joe) Sentelik, many great nieces, and nephews; great great nieces
and nephews; and many cousins and good friends.
The funeral service will be Tuesday, October 21, at 11:00 a.m., at the
Eckard Baldwin Sanctuary Chapel, 760 E. Market St. with Rev Kenneth Moody-Arndt
officiating. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park. The family will receive
friends at the funeral home on Monday, October 20, from 5:30 to 7:30
p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Church of the Master
United Methodist Church, 800 East Market Street, Akron, OH 44305.
