Skylar Nicolas Mattei

Skylar Nicolas Mattei, age 3, passed away September 23, 2006 after a courageous 10-month battle with cancer.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, David and Marianne Hicks and Anthony Mattei, and great-grandparents Frances Kendall and Beulah Hicks. He is survived by his parents, Eric and Stacy; brothers, David and Anthony; sister, Mikayla; grandmother, Anne Mattei, of Beaver, PA; uncle Doug (Caprice) Hicks; aunt Laura (Doug) Richardson, of Deland, FL; step-grandmother, Emma Hicks; step-aunt, Lisa Bishop; and many loving relatives and friends. The family would also like to extend their sincere thanks to the doctors and staff of Akron Children's Hospital, and to Skylar's wonderful home-care nurses, Mary and Karen.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 28, 2006, at 12 noon, at the Eckard Baldwin Sanctuary Chapel, 760 E. Market St., with Fr. Paul Schindler officiating. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, September 27, from 5 - 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family.
