Ruth M. Averill

Ruth M. AverillRuth M. Averill, 82, passed away December 1, 2009. She was born in Akron to the late Eben and Isabell (Branks) and was a lifelong resident. She earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in music from Kent State University and went on to teach piano, voice and organ for 60 years. She was also an active and devoted lifetime member of the South Arlington United Methodist Church,

Ruth worked at the former Evans Savings and Loan Bank and later, retired from B.F. Goodrich. She enjoyed playing golf as well as rooting for her beloved Cleveland Cavaliers.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Peggy. She is survived by her son, Wade (Kim) Kerr; daughter, Kay (David) Steiner; grandchildren, Dawn, Isabel, Christopher and Matthew; great-grandchlidren, Lauren and Sofia; brother, Thomas (Betty), of Madison, WI; special friends, Gerry Siegfried and Jean and Henry Ivey; and many other loving relatives and friends.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2009, at 1 p.m., at the Eckard Baldwin Sanctuary Chapel, 760 E. Market St., with Rev. Nan Morgan officiating. Calling hours will be on Saturday for two hours prior
to the funeral, from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Private interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
