Ruth A. Harrington

Ruth A. Harrington, 66, of Akron, passed away October 4, 2008 after a short battle with cancer. She was born in Deshler, OH to the late Ralph and Dorothy (Dowd) Brown, grew up in Norwalk, OH, lived for a short time in Panama and spent the rest of her life in Akron. She graduated from Ohio Northern with a degree in biology and worked in the medical field throughout her career.

Ruth was married to her husband Bob for 45 years this month and they enjoyed traveling as a couple on cruises, winery tours and casinos. She also enjoyed visting with her grandchildrenand spending time with her best friend and sister, Jean.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her nephew, Jeff; brother-in-law, Ted; and sister-in-law, Wanda. She is survived by her husband, Robert; daughters, Barbara (Richard), of Cuyahoga Falls and Joanne (Marco), of Bolingbrook, IL; grandchildren, Zach, Cameron and Julia; sisters, Pat (Bill) and Jean (Ted); sisters-in law, Marge (Peter), Shirley (Jerry) and Peggy (Norm); many nieces and nephews; and lovable companion, "Nana".

The family would like to give special thanks and appreciation to the 5400 Oncology Floor at Akron General Medical Center, Dr. Passero, and the Hospice Center for their care and compassion, which was greatly appreciated.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2008, at 6 p.m., at the Eckard Balwdin Sanctuary Chapel, 760 E. Market St., with Rev. Michael Mancari officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home for TWO HOURS PRIOR TO THE SERVICE, from 4 - 6 p.m. For those that wish, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Visiting Nurse, 3358 Ridgewood Rd., Akron, OH 44333.
