Ray E. Porter

Ray E. PorterRay E. Porter, 71, went home to be with the Lord on November 5, 2007.

Born in Akron, Ray served in the U.S. Army and worked for the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company as a sheet metal worker until he retired in 2001. He was also a deacon at the New Horizons Christian Church and a member of Alcoholics Anonymous.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Porter. He is survived by his wife, Alice; daughter, Christina (Donald) Cutting; granddaughter, Hayley Cutting; brothers, Robert (Kathy), Ronald (Emma) and Roy (Joann) Porter; sisters, Katherine Schmitz, Marilyn (Gene) Everhard and Rosalyn Bader; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held 11:00 A.M. FRIDAY at the Eckard Baldwin Sanctuary Chapel, 760 East Market St., with Pastor Jim Bane officiating. Interment at Hillside Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home on THURSDAY from 6 until 8 P.M. and one hour before the service time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the New Horizons Christian Church, 290 Darrow Rd. Akron, OH 44305-3854.
