Robert J. Curtis

Robert J. Curtis, 83, passed away unexpectedly on Oct. 23, 2005, at Akron City Hospital. Born in Greenville, MI., he resided in Akron all of his adult life and was a 24 year veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in WWII, the Korean Conflict and Vietnam. Robert retired from Kent State University as a bookstore clerk and belonged to the VFW and the American Legion. His major interest was his family, and he enjoyed fishing, arts & crafts, gardening, and collecting beanie babies and plastic models.

He will be sadly missed by his wife of 61 years, Rose; daughter, Kathie Rutzen of Kent; son, Robert Alan Curtis; grandson, Christopher Rutzen.

The funeral service will take place Thursday, Oct. 27, at 11 a.m., at the Eckard Baldwin Sanctuary Chapel, 760 E. Market St. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. and on Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. Those who wish may send flowers or make donations to the charity of one's choice.
