| In Loving Memory
Jack E. Border Jack E. Border, 72, passed away April 9, 2006. He was a lifelong Akron resident and retired from Goodyear in 1991 with 34 years of service, having achieved the Goodyear Spirit Award. He later worked for 12 years for the First Call Service Company and also for 14 years at the Eckard Baldwin Funeral Home and Chapel. Jack was also extremely active in his community. One of his proudest moments was being honored with the first-ever Dave Franklin Award for outstanding volunteer at the World Series of Golf. He volunteered at the event for over 30 years, and even served on the Board of Governors. He was also a long-time member of the Church of the Master, where he served many duties including that of "the expert wedding consultant", and was active in the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Ermyl; brother, Dick; sister-in-law, Carol Powers; and father and mother-in-law, Kenneth and Dorothy Powers. He is survived by his wife of 50+ years, Marla Kay "Mickey"; children, Nancy Zeigler (Mike Schafer), Barbara (Richard) Essig, Denise (Tony) Reitz and Kathy (Hal) Clossman; grandchildren, Luke, MeiChen, Kelly (J.R.), Erin, Daniel, Tara, Caitlin and Cindy; great-grandsons, Dylan and Will; brother-in-law, Richard; sister-in-law, Joyce; and close cousins, John and Elsie Rafferty. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 13, 2006, at 11 a.m., at The Church of the Master, 800 E. Market St., with Pastor Bruce Batchelor-Glader officiating. Interment at Hartville Mt. Peace Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Eckard Baldwin Funeral Home and Chapel, 760 E. Market St., on Wednesday, April 12, 2006, from 3 - 7 p.m., and for one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Church of the Master Scholarship Fund.
