Louis E. Kriston

Louis E. Kriston, 81, passed away September 1, 2005. He was born March 1, 1924 in Johnstown, Pa. and moved to Akron in the 30s. He was preceded in death by his parents Louis and Wilma Kriston and son Louis Dale.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Delores (nee Vasilcik); daughters Cynthia - Kriston - Smith of Leesburg, Va., Kathleen (Nimrod) Funk of Austin, TX., Claudia Cleveland of Aurora, Co and Theresa (Brent) Juve of Austin, TX.; sons Kenneth (Treasure) of Barberton, and Timothy of Barberton; grandchildren, Rachel and Elijah Juve, Hunter and Lura Funk, Michael, Rebecca and Hannah Cleveland, Jessica, Heather and Keith Kriston, and former daughter - in - law Jean Kriston.

Louis was a WW II veteran serving in the Army, and was in the Battle of the Bulge, Normandy Invasion on Omaha Beach. He was awarded the Bronze Arrowhead for the Normandy Invasion Landing in the Easy Red Sector at Omaha Beach, was selected to drive the party of General George Marshall, General Dwight Eisenhower, Admiral Ernest King and Rear Admiral Alan Kirk, when the they made their first visit to Normandy on June 12, 1944. Awarded 5 Bronze Stars for the Normandy, Northern France, Adennes, Rhineland and Central Europe Battle Campaigns, and served at the Potsdam Conference.

The funeral service will be Tuesday, September 6, 2005, at 10:00 a.m. at the Eckard Baldwin Sanctuary Chapel, 760 E. Market St., with Rev. Ernie Kemppel officiating. Interment at Glendale Cemetery with military honors conducted by Firestone V.F.W. Post 3383. The family will receive friends Monday, September 5 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
