Frank R. Waistell passed away peacefully at home on November 23, 2016 at the young age of 93 surrounded by all the people that loved him. He was born in Akron to the late Robert and Elsie and as a young boy he would play ball any time he could or get his mom to bake him a black bird pie.

At 17 he started his 42 years as a Goodyear employee, but was interrupted by Uncle Sam in 1942 to serve in the United States Air Force in both World War II and the Korean War. Frank would say his three favorite things were his love for all animals, his music room, where he made countless tapes for his friends, and the sports he played over the years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Vera; sisters, Verna Dunlap and Glendora Boyts; nephews, Brian and Michael Fanady; and niece Tracey Klebs. He is survived by his loving wife, Lucille (Morrison); step-children, Jerry (Amy) Morrison, Genny (David) Zuppert and Theresa Walker; grandchildren, Spencer, Sarah, Arlise, Devan, and Elaina; nieces, Beverly (Frank) Szarnicki, Susan (Chuck) Pangburn and Sherry Pointer; lifelong friend, Mike (Patty) Mihelis; and many loving great-nieces and nephews and friends.

Frank would say, "Don't say it wasn't, because it was."

Calling hours will be held on Monday, November 28, 2016 from 4 – 7 p.m. at the Eckard Baldwin Funeral Home and Chapel, 760 E. Market St. The funeral service will be at the funeral home on Tuesday, November 29 at 12 noon, with Pastor Robert Webb officiating. Entombment at Hillside Memorial Park where military honors will be conducted by Firestone VFW Post 3383. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Humane Society of Greater Akron, 4904 Quick Rd., Peninsula, OH 44264.
