Gordon was one of my Scoutmasters at Troop 14. He played an important part in my development and becoming an Eagle Scout. I left Akron and moved around the U.S.A. and even internationally but stayed in Scouting for 52 years serving in many adult roles. It was my experience in Troop 14 that taught me the importance of service to others and Gordon was an important part of that process. I continue my service above above self as a Rotarian and donate to many causes, raise funds for those causes, and work on many service projects including international service. I would not be the person I am today had it not been for Gordon. Gordon truly did his best and I am sure that way of living lives on in many others.

I appreciated everything Tom said about his Dad at the funeral, but one thing in particular was so striking. Gordon was an intelligent person who really didn't pound that over your head. I remember break time at Oak Rubber, we'd all sit around with our cups of coffee and have great conversations about all kinds of subjects. Everyone knew Gordon was the smartest person in the room, but you didn't get that from him. He had that self-deprecating manner lightened with humor. He was genuinely interested in other people and what each had to say. Gordon will be missed, but he left a legacy of family and friends and lots of laughter. Take comfort in the fact that he's truly home now with your mom Jeanne. I'm so sorry for your loss. With sympathy

Jo...Thank you for your kind words about my dad. As his daughter, I saw my dad's personality and character through my experiences with him and the way he interacted with others when I was there to observe. But he disappeared to the work world for 9 hours a day and I had no idea what he was like there, but I suspected he stayed true to my perception of him. You confirmed he was not only a great father, but a great co-worker. Thanks for coming to the service...it meant a lot to my family.

Gordon was a true "pulp" friend and will be missed. His legacy in the field and beyond will continue with each passing pulp collector generation as his knowledge and passion for the material will be passed down.
