Helen Joan Minton, 93, went to sleep Tuesday, February 28, 2017 and is now waiting for the return of her Lord and Savior Jesus. Her son Rick was with her when she peacefully passed on.

Born in Akron to Anthony and Lillian (Dove) Galanis, she later resided in Sacramento, CA 20 years before returning to Akron in 1968. Joan was a retired nurse from Akron City Hospital and was a proud and active member of the Akron First Seventh-Day Adventist Church. She really enjoyed cooking and baking and spending time with her family and friends who are listed below.

Proverbs 31 describes a virtuous woman. Joan was truly a virtuous woman. Her children rise up and call her blessed, as did her husband.

In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Lanier Minton; and siblings, Lois, Dorothy, Kathleen and Wayne. She will be sadly missed by her children, Richard, Ronald (Stephanie) and Karen (Lou) Carigg; grandsons, Richard, Robert, Neal and Ryan; great grandchildren, James, Kimberly, Elias, Daphne, Maddy and Zack; sister, Virginia Sarokas; brother, Ted (Liz) Galanis; and many nieces, nephews and friends who loved her. She is already and will be missed.

A memorial ceremony will take place at a later date and will be announced at that time. Those who wish may make memorial donations in Joan’s name to the Building Renovation Fund at Akron First Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 655 E. Waterloo Rd., Akron, OH  44306.
