Marvin C. Bell, 94, passed away October 9, 2016. He was born in Woodbury, TN to the late Hardy and Beulah (Wells) Bell and was a graduate of East High School. Marvin proudly served in the US Navy on the USS Briareus in World War II as a Fire Controlman, First Class and retired from Ohio Bell Telephone Company after 38 years of service.  He was renowned in the country music community and was a 48-year member, past state president, Akron Chapter founder, and State Hall of Fame Award Winner of the Ohio Country and Western Music Association. He was also a lifelong member of the Coventry-Akron Masonic Lodge 83, earning his 70-year pin and was a member of the Firestone VFW Post 3383. Preceded in death by his wife, Betty (nee Clement), to whom he was married for 58 years, he is survived by his children, Sandra Hagey-Kuss (Bob, deceased, and Jerry, deceased), Larry (Sue), and Gary (Linda); and he was grandpa and great-grandpa to many. Joined in covenant service to and survived by Esther Fox and her family David (LaVonne), Mark (Valerie), Mary (Noah) Green, James (Vicki), and Katie (Dick) Byerley, and their families. Calling hours will be on Friday, October 14, 2016 from 4-7 p.m. with a Masonic service at 6:30, at the Eckard Baldwin Funeral Home & Chapel, 760 E. Market St. The funeral service will be at the funeral home on Saturday, October 15 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor David Fox officiating. Entombment at Northlawn Memorial Gardens.
