Phyllis J. Upchurch-Vannatten, born in Akron to the late Arnold and Betylou (Gilbert) Hamlin, passed away October 9, 2017 at the age of 62.

Preceded in death by previous husband, Dean Upchurch, she is survived by her husband, William Frederick Vannatten; daughter, Deanna; granddaughter, Lillian; siblings, Mary, John, Eilajune, Michael and Viola; and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, October 16, 2017 at 12 noon at Home Missionary Baptist Church, 1922 Oakes Dr., with Rev. Keith Emhoff officiating. The family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service, from 11 am - 12 noon. Interment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.

Per the wishes of Phyllis, in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Eckard Baldwin Funeral Home, 760 E. Market St., Akron, OH 44305 to assist the family.
