Dennis M. “Denny” Lowe, 74, passed away peacefully at his home February 2, 2024. He was born in Akron to the late George and Eva (Lamb) Lowe and was an Ellet High School graduate.
Denny was a proud veteran of the United States Navy and along with his wife Brenda, was the co-founder of the Scorchers restaurant chain. The original location, Scorchers in the Valley, opened in 1994 and at it’s peak, there were 16 locations. Denny was also an avid NASCAR fan and was beloved by many. He will be deeply missed.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Tom. He was the love of his wife Brenda’s life, sharing a special bond together for 54 years. He is also survived by his daughter Jennifer (Eric) Wiseman; grandchildren, Courtney Kozusko (fiancé Collin) and Zachary Wiseman, who were his prized possessions; he had a close relationship with his brother, George (Patsy) Lowe; sister-in-law Cheryl; and he was loved by many nephews and their wives, cousins, and countless friends.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Akron General Cleveland Clinic Hospital, Heritage of Hudson rehabilitation center and SummaCare Hospice for making his last days as comfortable as possible.
A brief gathering to celebrate his life will be held on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. at the Eckard Baldwin Funeral Home and Chapel, 760 E. Market St., Akron, OH 44305. Burial with military honors will follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Rd., Seville, OH 44273.
