Dorothy-Jean (Shaffer) Callahan, 83, passed from our hearts into her Savior's loving arms on November 17, 2018. She was born in Akron on March 20, 1935 to the late Shelbert and Stella (Manges) Shaffer and was a 1952 East High School graduate. Dorothy-Jean worked at Goodyear and the Summit County Welfare Department, and regularly attended The Chapel. She also enjoyed singing old hymns and loved sewing. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Catherine and beloved brother-in-law, Buz Sawyer. She is survived by her 3 children, whom she raised on her own, Mark (Lois), Todd and Erin (Clifford) Duff; grandchildren, Eric (Brooke) Callahan, Caitlin Raines, and Lachlan and Mackenzie Duff; nieces, Linda and Aletha, of Amarillo, TX; beloved cousin and close friend, Donna Rae (Leroy) Wurm; and special friend of over 40 years, Darlene Calaway. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 from 4 - 7 p.m. at the Eckard Baldwin Funeral Home and Chapel, 760 E. Market St. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, November 21 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Craig Peters officiating. Interment at Crown Hill Cemetery.
