George “Bud” D. Halterman, 87 passed away February 4, 2018 at Pebble Creek. Born in Akron to Kemp and Olive (Varner) Halterman, he was a lifelong area resident and was a U.S. Navy Veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict. Bud graduated from Garfield High School and later owned Halterman Construction Company. He very much enjoyed boating, hunting, traveling to the west and in the later years he loved horse and cattle farming.
In addition to his parents Bud is preceded in death by his sister, Bonnie. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 65 years, Vera; daughter, Karen McCracken; son. Mark (Melodi); sister in-law, Betty Jean Betts; grandchildren, Jesse (Renee), Dustin (Megan), Tara (Brad), Samantha (John); 12 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff of Pebble Creek for the loving care they provided to Bud.
The funeral service will take place Friday, February 9, 2018 at 1 p.m. at the Eckard Baldwin Funeral Home & Chapel, 760 E. Market St., where friends may call for ONE HOUR prior to the service from 12 noon to 1 p.m. Pastor Dallas Billington will officiate. Interment will take place at Rose Hill Burial Park with military honors. Those who wish may make memorial donations in Bud’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
