Hazel Berniece (Carson) Lantz, 89, of Akron, passed away Thursday, October 26, 2017 at Stow-Glen Retirement Village surrounded by her family. Berniece was born in 1928 in Wyandot County in Marion, Ohio.  She moved to Galax, Virginia in 1930 and then to Akron in 1943.  She was a wonderful homemaker and caring aunt to many nieces and nephews.  Berniece was a member of Lakeview Christian Church and was a great cook, baker, seamstress and crafter. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Clark J. Lantz; parents, Earl and Clara Carson; brother, Warren Carson; and sister, Sue Carr. She is survived by her brother, Jim (Linda) Carson and many loving nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank all the wonderful people at Stow-Glen Retirement Village and Crossroads Hospice for their loving care of Berniece. The funeral service will be held TODAY, Saturday, October 28 at 11:30 a.m. at the Eckard Baldwin Funeral Home & Chapel, 760 E. Market St with Darryl Moulder officiating.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service, from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m.  Interment at Northlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Crossroads Hospice, 3743 Boettler Oaks Dr. Suite E Green, OH 44685; or to Stow-Glen Retirement Village, 4285 Kent Rd. Stow, OH 44224.
