James Alton Hawk joined his wife Dorothy in Heaven on January 18, 2018.  Born in Athens, Ohio on May 18, 1932, James lived most of his life in Akron, Ohio.  

As a student, Jim attended special education classes in Akron Public Schools. He was a member of the Handicapped Action Club where he enjoyed train trips, bowling, and putting on shows.  He also belonged to Sky Watch at Akron Fulton Airport.   Jim worked many years for Goodwill Industries.

We thank all of those who cared for Jim at The Briarwood in Stow, Ohio.  He loved to tease the staff, win at Bingo, and paint.  His paintings hang in many of the homes of his friends and family.  

Jim is survived by his beloved sister, Virginia "Jenny" Hawk Julian and her family, the family of his brother Jerry Hawk who preceded him in death, and also his late wife’s family.  

Calling hours will be held on Monday, January 22, 2018 from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. at the Eckard Baldwin Funeral Home and Chapel, 760 E. Market St. He will be laid to rest next to his wife and parents at Glendale Cemetery.
