James “Jim” “Goose” Andrew Burcham, 69, passed away May 29, 2018. He was born in Lobelville, TN on May 21, 1949 to the late Porter and Mildred (Bates) Burcham, moved to Michigan as a youth and lived in Akron since the late 1960’s. He was a 1969 Central High School graduate, was a member of the Akron Baptist Temple, and worked for Chrysler and Western Reserve Psychiatric.
Jim was a car enthusiast, loved dogs, walking, fixing mechanical things, art/drawing, movies and sports, especially the Detroit Tigers and Cleveland Cavaliers. He was also extremely generous, always willing to lend a helping hand, and was known for his lively discussions, story-telling, ornery nature and great sense of humor. He will be deeply missed.
Jim was a loving and devoted husband to Mitzie (Umberger) for 47 years; the proud father of Cheryl (Mike) Swanson and Kellie (Vince) Armbruster; doting grandfather of Tristan Cotherman and Ethan and Mallorie Armbruster; brother to Harold (Sue); as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 1, 2018 at 7 p.m. at the Eckard Baldwin Funeral Home and Chapel, 760 E. Market St., with Rev. Larry Knight officiating. Calling hours will be at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service, from 6 – 7 p.m. Immediately following the service, the family welcomes guests for food and refreshments at Suffield Town Hall, 1262 Waterloo Rd., Mogadore, OH 44260.
