Richard "Ricky" Hanley, a brilliant mind and magnetic soul, died at home Monday surrounded by his family.  He was 35 years old. Whatever his struggles in this life, they were far outweighed by the legacy of love and compassion he leaves behind.  Known for his quick wit and charming personality, Ricky enjoyed a legion of friends and supporters.  It's impossible to count all the hearts he touched and lives he impacted during his all-too-short time with us.  A talented professional cook and catering manager, Ricky regularly shared his passion for food with others. Often creating world-class meals from yesterday's leftovers.  A loving son and brother, he exhibited such passion and fierce loyalty for his family.  That intense level of joy was also experienced by the many cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends who pridefully claimed him as their own. However for Ricky, no flame burned brighter than the one he held for his daughter, Keira. His unconditional love and adoration for her always remained constant, transcending any momentary darkness or pain in his own life.  It was her picture he kept closest, her heart he held dearest. Ricky is survived by his daughter Keira; mother, Marjorie (Jon) Poda; sister, Christine (James) Hardy; brother, Daniel (Ashley) Hanley; nieces, nephew, and numerous family and friends who cherished him.  He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Hanley, Sr. All family, friends, supporters, and loved ones are invited to Eckard Baldwin Funeral Home and Chapel, 760 East Market Street, Akron, Ohio 44305 for calling hours Friday, September 15, 2017, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.  Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, September 16, 2017, 10:00 am.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ricky's name to the Akron Area YMCA, 50 S. Main Street, Ste. LL 100, Akron, Ohio 44308 in support of Turning Point Program/Y-STRONG.
