Anne Hill, 90, passed away May 8, 2014. She was born in Akron to the late Henry and Katherine (Brumbaugh) Nagel and was a lifelong resident. She was a 1941 Garfield High School graduate where she was crowned Homecoming Queen, served as class secretary and was active in alumni relations. She was also an active member of The Chapel where she belonged to the Prime Time ABF.
Anne was most importantly a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and was the perfect homemaker for her family. “God greeted her with a dust cloth and she’s polishing the Angels’ halos.”
Preceded in death by her husband, William, she is survived by her children, Ron (Sandra), of Columbia, SC, Judy (William) Burkett and Kim (John) Lux, of Hilliard, OH; grandchildren, Devon Hill, Heather (Chuck) Ivey, Scott (Suzanne) Burkett, Jill (Michael) Hiner, Amanda Lux and Stephanie Lux; great-grandchildren, Camile, Steven and Hayley Ivey, Alex and Adam Burkett, and Logan Hiner; great-great grandchildren, Charlie and Chloe Payton; and sister, Katherine Santschi.
The family would like to thank The Merriman and Summa Hospice for caring for Anne in the final stages of her life. The family will be forever touched by the staff at Western Reserve Hospital in Cuyahoga Falls for compassionately caring for Anne with dignity and respect.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 12, 2014 at 5 p.m. at the Eckard Baldwin Sanctuary Chapel, 760 E. Market St., with Todd McKinney officiating. Friends may visit at the funeral home for two hours prior to the service, from 3 – 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Haven of Rest, 175 E. Market St., Akron, OH 44309 or the Alzheimer’s Association, 70 W. Streetsboro St. Suite 201, Hudson, OH 44236.
