Annie Nan (Gilmore) Nelson

November 26, 1921 — October 7, 2015

Annie “Nan” Nelson, 93, went home to be with the Lord on October 7, 2015.  She was born in Glasgow, Scotland on November 26, 1921, daughter to the late Annie and Richard Gilmour, and served in the British Army during WWII.

Annie married and moved to Akron in 1946, where she raised her family.  She worked for decades at the Electric House in North Akron and served as past president of the Archbishop Hoban High School Mother’s Club.

She was a loving caregiver to Mark Mueller for eighteen years and was an active member of Holy Spirit Anglican Church.  Annie’s main calling in life was to share her faith and love with her family and everyone with whom she came in contact.

Preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Nelson and brothers, Richard and James, she is survived by her children, Cecilia (Dennis) Carr, Robert (LeAnne) Nelson, Richard Nelson, and Steve (Mary Jane Ellis) Nelson; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Annie’s life will begin with calling hours at the Eckard Baldwin Funeral Home & Chapel, 760 E. Market St. on Monday, October 12, 2015 from 4 – 7 p.m.  The funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. with The Rev. Scott Souders officiating.  Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Holy Spirit Anglican Church, 587 Baird St. Akron, OH 44311.
