Araminta F. “Minnie” Uphouse
On December 9, 2011, God called home his precious daughter. Born on January 22, 1920 in Somerset, PA, she fell in love with a World War II soldier, Albert, and married him on October 16, 1945. They then moved to Akron, OH in 1961.
Minnie was a devoted homemaker, raising four children, and in her spare time loved to sew, knit and crochet. Those who knew her would say she was a sweet little lady who loved life, but most of all, loved her family. We will greatly miss her.
She has rejoined her husband and son, Allen, whom passed before her. She leaves behind her eldest son, Harold (Barbara), of Akron; daughters, Mary (Charles) Nida, of Uniontown, OH and Norma (Robert) Lute, of Akron; brother, Lloyd Mort, of Somerset, PA; sister, Betty Jane (Chirley) Anderson, of Stoystown, PA; along with 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at 12 noon at Miller Funeral Home, 555 Tayman Ave. Somerset, PA 15501, with Rev. Gerald Deffenbaugh officiating. Interment at St. John Cemetery. Calling hours will be held at the Eckard Baldwin Funeral Home, 760 E. Market St., Akron, OH 44305 on Monday, December 12, from 4 – 7 p.m. and for one hour prior to the service at Miller Funeral Home, from 11 a.m. – 12 noon.
