Arlene Mazie McGlinchey, 92, passed away August 14, 2013, ending her long suffering as she joins her daughter Carole Jean in Heaven.

Born February 28, 1921 in Akron, Ohio to the late Henry and Flora (Kilgore) Meyers, she lived her entire life in the Kenmore and the Firestone Park areas.  She retired from the Key Punch Department of Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. after 21 years of faithful service.  Always with a smile on her face and a song in her heart, she was a kind and sweet soul with hugs and kisses for everyone upon entering her home.  Her first question would be “Are ya hungry Honey?”  A child of the Great Depression, she remained fiercely independent to the very end.  Arlene’s hobbies included golfing, fishing, cooking and her crossword puzzles to keep her mind sharp – and boy was it ever – till the day she left this world!  A long time member of Family of Faith United Methodist Church, she was active in both the free lunch program and the Dorcus Circle; the girls at church where her very best friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward P. and their only child, Carole Jean Laco; brothers, Billy and Henry Meyers; and sister, Helen Adami.

Arlene is survived by grandson and caretaker of over 30 years, Sean M. Laco of the home, and Paul M. Laco, Jr. of Texas; nieces and caretakers, Patty Diesz and Holly Hellenthal; nephews, Tony Meyers, Chuck Diesz and Dick Popiel and their families; son-in-law, Paul M. Laco Sr.; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and great-grandchildren.

Sean would like to thank caretakers: John and Whitney Ord; nieces, Charity and Elizabeth Popiel; Debbie Clark; and Denise and Carl Chimento for faithfully stopping in to check on their Aunt Arlene.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, August 17, 2013 at 11:00 a.m., at the Family of Faith United Methodist Church, 800 E. Market Street with Rev. Ron Shultz officiating.  Interment at Glendale Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the Eckard Baldwin Funeral Home & Chapel, 760 E. Market Street on Friday, August 16, 2013 from 4 to 7 p.m.

Per Arlene’s wishes, please make contributions in her name to the Family of Faith United Methodist Church Operating Fund, 800 E. Market St, Akron Ohio 44305.

In memory of Mrs. McGlinchey, she asked that we recite the Lord’s Prayer:  Our Father Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy Kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespassed against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil; for thine is the Kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever.  Amen.
