Balazs "Apu" Varga

Balazs “Apu” Varga, 87, passed away peacefully December 23, 2023. He was born in Vitka, Hungary to the late Sandor and Julianna (Kiraly) Varga and was a United States resident since 1967.

Balazs worked for Reuther Mold, the Ford Motor Company in Australia and retired from Goodyear with 25 years of service. He was a member of Christ Reformed Church of Copley and the Hungarian American Club. He also loved to fish, especially in Australia, and singing for his wife, family, and everyone at Greenview Senior Living.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gizella; daughter, Kristina; 3 brothers and 1 sister. He is survived by his son, Balazs “Steve” (Pam); grandchildren, Alex (Jen), Nick (Amanda) and Erika; great-grandson, Logan; sister, Elizabeth Ferenci; and son-in-law, Greg Gale.

The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Greenview Senior Living and SouthernCare Hospice for their heartfelt care.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at 11 a.m. at the Eckard Baldwin Funeral Home and Chapel, 760 E. Market St., with Pastor Joe Burkhardt officiating. Calling hours will be at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service, from 10 – 11 a.m. with burial at Hillside Memorial Park.
