Barbara J. Gomory

Barbara J. Gomory, 75, passed away November 10, 2024. She was born in Akron, OH to the late Charles and Martha (Mishler) Hurd and was a Garfield High School graduate.

Barbara was a former member of the Cadet-ettes baton and drum corps as well as Ellet Grace Brethren Church. She loved listening to Conway Twitty and playing Bingo, and she will be deeply missed.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Bobby; companion, Harry Kensinger; and sister-in-law, Penny. She is survived by her daughters, Denise (Russell) Szarnicki and Jeanene Gomory; grandchildren, Emily Skrapics and Jack and David Szarnicki; brothers, William and Ronald Hurd; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, November, 15, 2024 at 1 p.m. at the Eckard Baldwin Funeral Home and Chapel, 760 E. Market St., Akron, OH 44305 with Fr. David Durkee officiating. Visitation will be for two hours prior to the service, from 11 am – 1 p.m.
