Betty Lou (Lang) Hawkins

November 22, 1927 — September 4, 2016

Betty Hawkins, 88, passed away September 4, 2016 at her residence. Born in Atlanta, GA to Joeseph and Ethel (Sibley) Lang, she had resided in Akron since age one. She previously worked as a Tour Guide for the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. World of Rubber. Betty was a member of the Chapel of Prayer Baptist Church as well as the VFW Post # 4738 in Stow. She loved cooking for her family and traveling to Las Vegas. Betty also was a hostess at the Sizzler Family Steakhouse and was a waitress at the Outpost Restaurant.

Preceded in death earlier this year by her husband of 69 years, Ben; and brother, Bill Lang; she is survived by children, Bill (Sandi), Cathy (Terry) Williams and Cindy (Doug) Moore; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call Thursday, September 8, 2016 from 12 noon to 1:00 p.m. at the Eckard Baldwin Funeral Home & Chapel, 760 E. Market St., with the funeral service immediately following at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Bob Cheyney will officiate. Interment will take place at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
