Betty Usrey, born in Philippi, WV on August 16, 1923 to the late Oscar and Mae Strader, went home to be with her Lord and Savior January 29, 2012, with her family by her side. She moved to Akron as a youth and was a graduate of East High School. She worked at Goodyear Aircraft during World War II and also at Acme.
Betty married her husband, William, on March 11, 1943 and they enjoyed 69 years of marriage. She raised two boys, Gordon and Duane, and was very proud of both of them. She also loved children and ceramics.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Patricia Perez and Doris Enlow; brother, Robert Strader; and granddaughter, Samantha Rae Usrey. Betty is survived by her husband, William; sons, Gordon (Diane) and Duane (Susan); grandchildren, Michael, Meagan, Monica and Bryan; great-grandchild, Adie Rae; and many other relatives and friends.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 2, 2012 at 10 a.m. at the Eckard Baldwin Sanctuary Chapel, 760 E. Market St., with Rev. Michael Usrey officiating. Interment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
