Beverly ‘Bev’ M. (Hutchison) Weiss, 82, passed away peacefully with family around her October 18, 2024, after a long bout with cancer. She was born in Kittanning, Pennsylvania to the late Ellis and Berdella (Gould) Hutchison and was a Ford City High School graduate. After graduation she moved to Washington D.C. where she worked for the Department of Health, Education and Welfare Food & Drug Administration. While in Washington D.C. she met her late husband of 61 years, Robert Weiss, and they married 3 months later. Bev was active with the Akron Council of PTAs where she volunteered her time at each of her children’s schools. She was also a volunteer for many years with the Women’s Auxiliary Board serving Summit County Children Services. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking, baking and spending time with her family (immediate and extended) and friends over large dinners. All were always welcome in her eyes. And most of all, she enjoyed spending time with all of her grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Michael (Andrea) Weiss, Matthew (Stephanie) Weiss, Erica (David) Akin and Sean Weiss; 7 grandchildren, Zach, Sam, Luke, Nick, Claire, Izzy and Danni; along with her siblings Richard ‘Dick’ (Carolyn) Hutchison, Sandy (Paul) Ondo and James ‘Jim’ Hutchison, her adored sister-in-law, Jeanne Weiss, and many nieces and nephews whom all had a special place in her heart. Per her wishes, cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, St. Jude or the Humane Society of Summit County. Please share your thoughts and condolences by visiting her Tribute Wall above.
