Brenda Lowe

Brenda Lowe, 77, passed away peacefully June 18, 2026. She was born in Akron to the late Isiah “Don” and Dorothy (Gruver) Barrett and was and Ellet High School graduate.

Brenda was the original owner of Scorchers in the Valley and was co-founder and franchisor of U.F.O, along with her high school sweetheart and husband, Denny, who passed away in 2024.

In addition to her parents and Denny, she was preceded in death by her brother, Howie Shankel. She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer (Eric) Wiseman; grandchildren, Courtney (Collin) Nemeth and Zachary; great-granddaughter, Hadlie; and many other loving relatives and friends.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2026 from 4 – 5:30 p.m. at the Eckard Baldwin Funeral Home and Chapel, 760 E. Market St., Akron, OH 44305 followed by a memorial service at 5:30. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

A private burial alongside Denny at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery will occur at a later date.
