Burdetta R. Barnes

Burdetta R. Barnes, 92, passed into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ February 17, 2025. She was born in Kings Mountain, KY to the late Orville and Helen (Walsh) Warren and was an Akron resident most of her life where she was a Garfield High School graduate.

Burdetta was a charter member of Brown Street Baptist Church (now Hope Baptist Church of Akron), was on the Akron Council of PTA’s and was a member of a local singing group that toured Akron doing performances.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; brother, Richard; and sister, Charlotte. She is survived by her children, Kevin (Joann) Barnes, Kim (Steve) Dies and Keith Barnes; grandchildren, Trudy, Jacob (Amanda), Lucas (Makayla), Paul (Gabby), Kyle and Brooke; great-grandchildren, Jackson and Emma; sister, Jo Brubaker; brothers, James and David (Jackie); and many other loving relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Hope Baptist Church of Akron, 1822 Highview Ave., Akron, OH 44301, with Pastor Robert Kuhns and Pastor Zac Singletary officiating. A memorial luncheon will be at church immediately following the service and all are welcome to attend.
