Carl E. “Ed” Hale, 67, passed away August 4, 2015. Born in Galion, OH, he was a lifelong Akron resident and was a former member of Emmanuel Church of Christ.
Ed graduated from East High School and the University of Akron, and also earned a Masters Degree. He retired from John R. Buchtel High School with over 30 years as an English teacher. In 1995, Carl was named Teacher of the Year.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Marie; mother, Katherine (Paul) Overholt; brothers-in-law, Edward (Sally) and Richard (Jeanne); sister-in-law, Chris (Frank); step-brothers, Ken (Pam) and Wayne; and many other loving relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Carl, and his feline family, Miss Tyger, Jersey and Stripe. Carl will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, August 10, 2015 from 5 – 7 p.m. at the Eckard Baldwin Funeral Home & Chapel, 760 E. Market St. The funeral service will be Tuesday, August 11, at 11 a.m. at Tallmadge First Church of God, 464 Northeast Ave., Tallmadge, OH 44278 with Pastor Josh Deeter and Pastor Doug Walter officiating. Interment at Rose Hill Burial Park.
