Carol A. (Runge) Vanderveen

Carol A. Vanderveen, 87, passed away January 11, 2019. She was born in Akron to the late Erwin and Norma (Bewie) Runge and was an active volunteer in scouting when her children were young.

Carol was a devout member of Fairlawn Lutheran Church for many years. She served as the church secretary, taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. She was also a member of LWML, the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, was a member of the singing group "Harmony", and loved knitting and sewing.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Ralph Jr.; children, Rebecca, Mark and Eric; grandchildren, Rachel, Zachary, McKenna, Taylor and Andrew; and a host of other loving relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Erwin Runge Jr.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 1 p.m. at Fairlawn Lutheran Church, 3415 W. Market St., Fairlawn, OH 44333 with Rev. Jim Gau officiating.
