Cora Samaco was born June 22, 1951 in Akron, Ohio. She grew up in Mogadore, Ohio and lived the remainder of her life in Akron after her marriage to John Samaco in 1971.
Cora worked many years at both Dairy Mart and Davey Tree in bookkeeping, where she made many lasting friendships. Cora was the ultimate caretaker and spent a large portion of her life caring for others. Whether it was her own children, elderly neighbors, or even nieces and nephews, Cora opened not just her heart but her home to anyone in need and always put others before herself. Her compassion, however, was not just limited to humans, Cora was also a fierce animal lover. Dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, guinea pigs, ferrets, fish, hamsters, newts, frogs, and on and on, if an animal would fit in her house she probably owned and cared for it at some point. In addition to animals in the house, she also devoted a large portion to being a “horse show mom” to her youngest daughter Samantha, traveling around the country to attend and help out Samantha (as well as many other contestants of course) at various horse shows.
Cora was also as die-hard of a sports fan as you will ever find. She was a massive Guardians/Indians fan going all the way back to her childhood and she loved sharing her sports fandom with her children and granddaughters. She also loved holiday meal planning with her daughter Sarah.
Cora is survived by the love of her life John Samaco, whom she shared over 53 wonderful years of marriage with; son, Steven (Susan) Samaco and daughters, Sarah Samaco (Eric Pfiffner), and Samantha Samaco (Ryan Davis).
Cora also had an incredibly close relationship with her granddaughters Marie, Anna, and Leia. She practically redefined the term “Spoiling Grandmother” as she showered them not only with gifts but with daily texts and endless love. Losing Cora will leave a massive hole in the hearts of all who knew her.
