Delta M. Gorham, 86, passed away August 20, 2012. She was born in Morrow County, OH to the late Myrl and Lottie (Batchelder) Baker and was an Akron-area resident for most of her life. She worked for the M. O’Neil Company and was a long-time member of Wedgewood United Methodist Church.
Delta was also active in the community as a volunteer for the East Akron Community House and Mobile Meals. She was also a member of the Tyler Garden Club of Green, Indian Trails of Goodyear Heights and Fairlawn Country Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; brother, Roy; and sisters, Leeta, Esther, Evadine and Charlotte. She is survived by her daughter, Marsha (Larry) Bond; son, John (Kathy) White; grandchildren, Doug (Angie) Bond, Jenifer (Jeff) Lonzrick and Amy (Brad) DeBusk; great-grandchildren, Savannah, Nate, Logan, Abigail, Luke and Kaylin; and many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 23, 2012 at 6 p.m. at Wedgewood United Methodist Church, 2350 Wedgewood Drive, Akron, OH 44312 with Rev. Karen Hartley officiating. The family will receive friends at the church for two hours prior to the funeral, from 4 – 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wedgwood United Methodist Church Building Fund.
