Desiree (Piurkowsky) Gillman, 50, loving daughter, mother, grandmother and sister, sadly passed away June 24, 2012 after battling several health issues. She was born in Akron and was a 1979 graduate of Garfield High School.
Desiree was an independent, hard-working woman, taking on the roll of both mother and father while supporting her family as a waitress in New York and Las Vegas for many years.
She did a terrific job raising two beautiful and loving daughters, Danielle (Alex) Martinez and Desiree Gillman Jr. (Thomas) and was a proud Nana to three beautiful grandchildren, Alex Jr., Leah and Jayden. She is also survived by her parents, Anthony and Barbara Piurkowsky and her loving brother, Mark.
Cremation has taken place. A gathering of family and friends to remember her will be held on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 from 4 – 8 p.m. at 1420 Oakwood Ave., Akron, OH 44301.
