On December 7, 2012, we said goodbye to the other half of our beloved parents when our mother, Dolores (Callahan) Pickrell, passed away after a short illness at Summa Akron City Hospital. She was reunited with our dad, Edwin, who passed in 1984.
Dolores was a stay-at-home mother and enjoyed fishing, camping, Bingo and spending time with family and friends.
She attended North High School (she would’ve graduated in 1951) and also attended Ernest Angley’s Grace Cathedral Church. She loved her angels and would only let her daughter, Lenora and her daughter-in-law, Patty Gilcrist touch them, as well as the plates with the family-members pictures on them.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Pauline (Lee) Callahan; husband, Edwin L. Pickrell; son, Stephan Gilcrist and two great-grandchildren. She leaves behind her sister, Loretta; children, Richard Callahan, Nick Callahan, Yvonne Gilcrist (Moran), Deborah Gilcrist, William (Patty) Gilcrist, Lenora (Pickrell) Mason, Jeannie Pickrell; 13 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. She also says goodbye to her best friend, Mabel, who brightened her days.
The family gives thanks to her niece, Priscilla, who was always willing to lend that extra hand to make sure she was taken care of. Thanks also to the entire Cardiac Care Center at Summa Akron City Hospital for ensuring the family was kept informed and helped in every way possible.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Crown Hill Cemetery, 8592 Darrow Rd. in Twinsburg, with Rev. Thomas Shaw officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your Local VA Office in her memory.
