Dorothy J. Gibson, 82, passed away July 23, 2015. Born in Akron, she grew up in Green, graduating from Green High School, and retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. with over 30 years of service. Dorothy was a longtime member of Wedgewood United Methodist Church and will be remembered for her easy-going, cheerful and independent demeanor.
Preceded in death by husband, Elwood, she will be missed by special friends, Jerry and Dawn Forney; and personal caregivers, Megan, Sue, Kathy, Karen and Hallie.
The funeral service will be Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Eckard Baldwin Funeral Home & Chapel, 760 E. Market St. with Rev. Joseph Burkhardt officiating. Friends may call for one hour prior to the service from 10 – 11 at the funeral home. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Wedgewood United Methodist Church, 2350 Wedgewood Drive, Akron OH 44312.
