Dorris Simmons Guy, 90, passed away April 3, 2014, at Rockynol Retirement Community after a short illness. She was born February 4, 1924, in Pittsburgh, Pa. Dorris earned a Bachelors and Masters Degree from the University of Pittsburgh, and taught school for 32 years in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and New Jersey. She moved to Akron in 2009, to be closer to family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Guy Jr. She is survived by her son, William H. Guy III, his wife Sheila K. Guy, grandchildren, William H. Guy IV (Diana), Karen (Eric) Hummel, and 7 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at 11:00 a.m., at the Rockynol Chapel, 1150 W. Market St., with Pastors Diane Walker and Debbie Gibbons officiating.
