Doy E. Adkins went home to be with his Lord on March 11, 2016.
He was born in Mason County, WV and enjoyed a long career in the building profession. A profession he was passionate about and loved teaching to his sons. He put a hammer in each of their hands and taught them how to hold and swing it. He loved working with them and employing them and with the greatest pride, working for them many years later. Using old-fashion ingenuity, hard work and perseverance he always got the job done. He loved to hear his wife’s prayer for God to bless the work of his strong, calloused hands.
More than anything, Doy loved spending time with his family and grandchildren who brought great joy to his heart. He freely expressed his love with words, hugs and little gifts. He was a man who never forgot to say, I love you. He will forever be remembered for his unfailing generosity.
Preceded in death by his mother, Ruby Frances (Butler) and brothers, Maurice Lee and Aaron Dale, he is survived by his wife, Marylou; sons, Doy Jr., Phil (Christine), Daniel (Sara) and Matthew (Kristen); grandchildren, Ashley, Josh, Kylee, Doy III, Austin, Olivia, Emily, Alyssa, Caleb, Eli and Carson; siblings, Juanita, Donna, Phyllis, Craig and Dennis; and many other loving relatives and friends.
