Elaine G. Neal, 78, went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on August 15, 2012. Elaine was a faithful Christian and a loving example to her family, church and friends.
She was born in Akron on February 21, 1934 to Clarence and Mary (Formento) Gustaevel and lived in Mogadore for nearly 50 years. Graduating with honors from the University of Akron, Elaine taught fifth grade until her marriage to Paul E. Neal Jr. on November 23, 1957. She then became a dedicated wife and mother who was actively involved in church and community activities. Elaine was a charter member of the Mogadore Jaycees and she and her husband were long-time members of Arlington Memorial Baptist Church, where they served faithfully for many years.
Elaine loved nothing better than enjoying a great meal where there was laughter and fellowship with her family and many friends. She took great pleasure in maintaining all the wonderful long-term friendships she had developed over the years.
Preceded in death by Paul, her beloved husband of 50 years, Elaine is survived by children, Tracey (Doug) Blackburn, Paula Neal, Bruce Neal (Susan Rizzo) and Mary Ruth Neal; grandchildren Seth, Andrew and Claire; brother, Ken Gustaevel, sister-in-law Phyllis Bell Stover (Walter), several nieces and nephews, and many great friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 18, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Arlington Memorial Baptist Church, 2330 E. Market St., with Rev. Matthew W. McDaniel officiating. Private interment at Greenwood Mogadore Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Arlington Memorial Baptist Church.
