Elaine "Bunny" (Sayre) Spice

Elaine Frances “Bunny” (Sayre) Spice, 75, passed away July 23, 2023. She was born March 28, 1948 in Ripley, WV to the late Gerold and Eugenia (Lausecker) Sayre and was a 1966 Ripley High School graduate. She moved to Wadsworth, OH a short time after graduation and took a job at The Injector. She also worked for Verizon for 30+ years as well as Macy’s for over 10.

Bunny was loved by everyone who knew her. Growing up with almost nothing made her generous almost to a fault. She made sure that everyone had whatever it was they needed, and her home was always open. She loved being a mom to her two kids Heather and Andrew, as well as to her four step-kids. She was blessed with 11 step-grandchildren that she adored, and took extra joy in doting on her two youngest grand-daughters, Anna and Ava. She also loved being a nanny to Amanda, JR, and Logan whom she watched from 2011 to 2021. Even though she was divorced from her husband of 26 years, David Spice, they remained good friends and spent time together with their grand-children. Over the years she enjoyed many activities including The Footlighters, and a decades long monthly Euchre club. She also had a slight obsession with shopping, as made evident by her small hoarder style collections of odds and ends.

Bunny  is survived by her children, Heather (Scott) Gochenour and Andrew Spice; grandchildren, Ava and Anna; her step-children and step-grandchildren; sister Judy (Richard) Roudebush and Debbie (Roy) Klupacs; and brother, Tommy Sayre. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brother Gerold Jr., sisters,Geroldine, Donna Mae, Doris, Beverly and CC ; and ex-husbands Paul Foxx and David Spice.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 from 4 – 6 p.m. at the Eckard Baldwin Funeral Home and Chapel, 760 E. Market St., with a small service immediately following at 6 p.m.
