Eleanor Margaret Kopka

June 6, 1931 — June 5, 2024

Eleanor Margaret Kopka, 93, passed away June 5, 2024.  She was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend.

She was born to George and Margaret Adcock on February 3, 1931.  Born and raised in the Portage Lakes area, she graduated from Coventry High School and lived her entire life in the Akron area.  She married her husband, George Kopka in 1951 and together, they had 2 children: Len and Christine.

She was a life-long animal lover with a special fondness for cats.  She made a commitment to take care of abandoned and stray cats.  For much of her adult life, she had a regular daily route where she would feed stray cats around the Akron area.  She would sometimes take them in, have them neutered and allow them to live out their lives in the safety of her home.

Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband George, her parents and her sister, Dorothy Fox.  She is survived by her son, Len (Ginger) Kopka of South Carolina; daughter Christine Steele of Akron; grandson, Dustin Steele of Akron; granddaughter Linsey (Dave) Honeycutt of Mons, Belgium; and niece, Cheryl Dheel of Minford, Ohio.

In keeping with her wishes, a funeral service is not planned.   A private internment will occur at Rose Hill Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimers Association.
