Enrique Cantera Jr.

Enrique Cantera Jr., 22, passed away May 9, 2026. He was born in Akron, was a Garfield High School graduate and was currently serving as an active duty Army soldier at Fort Riley, Kansas.

Enrique was a social butterfly who lit up every room he walked in. With his beautiful smile and open arms, he was a friend to all. His love for his family, friends, country, and music set him aside from everyone. His life was a blessing and now his memory is a treasure. Going on without Enrique on earth will be the hardest thing we will ever have to do, but his spirit will live in our hearts forever. Until we meet again.

Preceded in death by his grandfather, Michael Kingsley, and cousins, Dustin Lambright and Agustin Cantera, he is survived by his mother, Jennifer (Mike) Kingsley; father, Enrique (Marisol) Cantera Sr.; brothers, Carlos, Tadeo and Adan; sisters, Nevaeh, Naomi and Alycen; grandparents, Jose and Veronica Cantera and Tammy and Gary Dingess; niece, Camila; aunts and uncles, Barbara (Jeff) Kingsley, Elizabeth (Johnny) Rollyson, Alex (Cheyenne) Sipos, and Juan Cantera; and many other loving relatives and friends.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, May 22, 2026 from 10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at the Eckard Baldwin Funeral Home and Chapel, 760 E. Market St., Akron, OH 44305. The funeral service will immediately follow at 12:30 p.m. with Pastor Suzannah Johnson officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Rd., Seville, OH 44273.
