Ethel K. Cox, 86, passed away August 23, 2011. She was born in Parkersburg, WV to the late Troy and Alice (Wigal) Bennett and had been an Akron resident since 1942. She was a Rosie the Riveter during World War II and was well-known for her baking prowess at several local restaurants during her working career.

Ethel was a devout Christian who was devoted to and deeply loved by her family and she will be greatly missed.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Wayne, and sisters, Roxie and Virginia. She is survived by her children, Gerald, Vincent and Marilyn; granddaughters, Christine and Jennifer; great-grandchildren, Brianna, Kaylee, Jenna and Randy; sister, Adeline Baxter; brother, Frank (Jewell) Bennett; and brother-in-law, Reginald Dillworth.

The family would like to give special thanks to all those who helped care for Ethel, especially Judy, Louise, Beth and Mike.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2011 at 12 noon, at the Eckard Baldwin Sanctuary Chapel, 760 E. Market St., with Chaplain Michael Shaub officiating. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park. Calling hours will be for TWO HOURS PRIOR TO THE SERVICE, from 10 a.m. – 12 noon.
