Evelyn G. “Nana” (Hines) Lee, 82, entered into her eternal home on January 6, 2011. Born in Akron, she was a lifelong resident and a 1946 graduate of East High School. As a teen, she worked the soda fountain at Lea Drug and in the ticket booth at the Cameo Theater.
Later in life, she attended the East Liberty Outreach Center, where she was a member of the Women’s Ministries and helped with the food bank. She also cooked for and worked the annual bake sale in the William Presser Tower and was affectionately known as “the fudge lady”.
Nana joins in heaven her parents, Cecil J. “Pick” and Myrtle M. “Jerry” (Coughenour) Hines and her sister, Kay McFann. She is survived by her daughter, Jerry (Steve) Serva; son Jeffrey; grandchildren, Crystal (Bob) Stewart, Stevie (Megan) Serva and Amanda (Brian) Serva; great-grandchildren, Ashley (Justin), Robby (Sydney), Riley and Brian Jr.; brother, Kenneth (Terry) Hines; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family would to give special thanks to Barb and Lilly at the Hospice Care Center for their tenderness and compassion of our mom.
The funeral service will be held on Monday, January 10, 2011, at 1 p.m. at the Eckard Baldwin Sanctuary Chapel, 760 E. Market St., with Rev. Diane Richmond officiating. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park. Calling hours will be at the funeral home on Sunday, January 9, from 1 – 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Eckard Baldwin Funeral Home, 760 E.
