Floyd S. Ragner, 84, passed away September 27, 2012. He was born in Portland, OR to the late Emil and Edith (Wicklund) and lived there most of his life.
Mr. Ragner was a decorated war hero, serving with the Merchant Marines in World War II and in the Army during the Korean War, receiving both the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He earned a Masters Degree from Lewis and Clark College, was a science teacher at the Washington State School for the Deaf and authored the book “Magical Musings”. He was also a lifelong member of the First Christian Church and belonged to the Lions Club and VFW.
Floyd is survived by his loving wife of over 50 years, Rose Marie (Reed) and his sons, John and Gary.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at 10 a.m. at the Eckard Baldwin Sanctuary Chapel, 760 E. Market St., with Pastor Michael Castelli officiating. Interment with military honors at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 2, from 5 – 7 p.m.
